Thai bulk carrier damaged, dry-docked in Ukrainian port
Bulk carrier WIKANDA NAREE was dry-docked at Chornomorsk Ship Repair Yard, Ukraine, early in the morning Jan 11, for hull plates repairs. Ship s hull was damaged, reportedly, during maneuvering while exiting Port of Chornomorsk on Jan 10, details unknown. Ferry grounded, 111 people on board rescued, Indonesia
Ferry SANGKE PALANGGA with 83 passengers and 28 crew on board, ran aground on a reef off Marapokot port, northern coast of central East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, Flores sea, at around 0300 LT Jan 11, while en route from South Sulawesi to Marapokot Port. By 1000 LT, all people on board, including crew, were safely evacuated and transferred to Marapokot. Maersk Line Takes Delivery of Baltic Feeder Vilnia Maersk
COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard has delivered a 3,600 TEU containership to Danish shipping company Maersk Line, named Vilnia Maersk.

Norled to Build World s 1st Hydrogen-Electric Ferry
Ferry company Norled AS and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration signed an agreement on Tuesday for the construction of the world’s first hydrogen-electric ferry.

Hambantota Port reports increase in vessels docking
The Hambantota International Port (HIP) saw an increase in vessels docking at the port on the first week of the new year, the Port said.

Port of Amsterdam sets new transhipment record in 2018
Port of Amsterdam achieved a new transhipment record in 2018 with transhipment totalling 82.3 million tonnes, compared to 81.3 million tonnes in the previous year. Together with the other ports in the North Sea Canal Area, total transhipment consequently amounted to 101.8 million tonnes in 2018.
