International Seaways Nets USD 390 Mn for Refinancing
New York-headquartered product tanker company International Seaways has closed on senior secured credit facilities worth a total of USD 390 million.
The facilities consists of a 5-year USD 300 million senior secured term loan facility, a 5-year USD 40 million revolving credit facility, of which USD 20 million has been drawn, and a 2.5-year USD 50 million senior secured term loan credit facility.

Coronavirus Sailing Cancellations Start to Hurt Royal Caribbean s Earnings
Royal Caribbean Cruises has suspended three more sailings through Feb 8th on Spectrum of the Seas, homeported in China, amid aggressive measures pursued by Chinese authorities to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The move follows the cancellations of sailings on the Quantum-class cruise ship that were scheduled to depart on January 27 and January 31 from Shanghai.

Fire Breaks Out on Supertanker off Dubai, Crew Safe
A fire erupted on board a very large crude carrier identified as Zoya 1, approximately 21 nautical miles northwest of Dubai, UAE.
Based on the initial information, the fire started as the crew members were doing maintenance work on board.
Having received a distress signal, the local rescue personnel managed to evacuate the crew from the stricken vessel, according to a statement from the Federal Transport Authority - Land & Maritime, adding that the 24-year old supertanker was not loaded with oil.

First Steel Cut for Celebrity Cruises Third Edge Ship
French shipbuilder Chantiers de l Atlantique has cut the first piece of steel for Celebrity Beyond, the third ship in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge class of cruise vessels.
The steel cutting ceremony for the 140,600 GT newbuild was held in Saint-Nazaire on January 29, 2020.
Back in November 2018, the shipbuilder delivered Celebrity Edge, the first unit from the batch of five ships.

Tour boat collision filmed by passenger, Argentina VIDEO
Tour boat ANAMORA in the afternoon Jan 28 collided with berthed fishing vessel while leaving resort city Mar del Plata, Argentina, with dozens of tourists on board. Collision was video captured by one of the passengers. Several said to sustained slight injures. No data found on ANAMORA in ships databases.

Tanker Revenues Boost Performance Shipping s Earnings
Athens-based shipowner Performance Shipping reported revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2019, which was mainly driven by earnings of the first two tankers in the company s fleet.
Voyage and time charter revenues rose to USD 10.6 million in Q4 2019 from USD 6.1 million seen in the same period of 2018.

General Average Declared on Fire-Stricken Northern Jupiter
Owner of the Post Panamax containership Northern Jupiter which suffered a fire in its main engine earlier this month has declared general average on its vessel, Ocean Network Express (ONE) said in an advisory.
The 8,814 TEU ship is owned by German Norddeutsche Reederei H. Schuldt, a subsidiary of V Group, and was deployed on ONE s South East Asia - Australia (AU1) service.

JSW Infra signs concession pact for container terminal at NMPT; to invest ?300 crore
The Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Infrastructure Ltd has signed a concession agreement with New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) to develop and operate its first container terminal project at a major (Central government-owned) port.
JSW Infra quoted a royalty of ₹951 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) for a 400,000 TEU capacity terminal to be run from Berth No 14 at NMPT on a 30-year contract with an investment of about ₹300 crore.

Tanzania is planning to boost business flow to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through Lake Tanganyika by addressing non-tariff trade barriers.

Cargo tracking note can curb criminal activities in ports
The new Assistant Inspector General, (AIG) Marine Command, Muhammad Uba Kura, has said the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN), has the potential of addressing issues on criminal activities in the nation s ports.
Kura said this when the management team of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), paid him a courtesy visit in Lagos, weekend.
