Wellard Gets Approval for Ocean Swagman Sale, Leaseback
Australia s largest live cattle exporter Wellard has received an approval for the sale and leaseback of one of its vessels, the 2009-built Ocean Swagman.
The company s shareholders gave the green light for the deal on October 25.
In late August 2019, Wellard revealed its plans to proceed with the sale of Ocean Swagman to Heytesbury Holding Company.
At the time, the company said that the unit would be sold at a price of USD 22 million.

Airbus, Port of Le Havre Join Forces to Offer Port Operations Solution
France s Port of Le Havre has signed an industrial and a distribution agreement with European aerospace company Airbus for a joint software solution for port operations.
The solution will be based on the Airbus Vessel Traffic Services product family Styris and Port of Le Havre s S-WiNG, a digital service for port management.
In addition, Airbus has joined Union Maritime et Portuarie (UMEP), HAROPA - Port du Havre and SOGET on the Smart Port City project with the aim of offering the services of a security operations center (SOC).

US: Firms Given Time to Wind Down Business with COSCO Units
The U.S. Treasury Department has issued an almost two-month waiver providing companies that deal with COSCO units time to wind down their transactions.
The waiver, issues on October 24, allows "maintenance or wind down of transactions" and is valid until December 20. This includes offloading non-Iranian crude oil involving COSCO Shipping Tanker (Dalian) Co. Ltd, according to a notice from the department s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Chinese Shipbuilding Majors Win Approval for Merger
China has given the green light to a merger of the country s two shipbuilding majors, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) said on October 25.
After receiving an approval from the state asset regulator, China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC) and China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) are now a step closer to combine their respective businesses.

Lekki Deep Sea Port as Game Changer for Nigeria
With the imminent closure of Rivers Port in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, due to its certification as unfit for further operation, threatening to worsen the congestion in the Apapa, Lagos ports, the Lekki Deep Sea Port when it comes on-stream, promises to offer succour for the maritime community in the country.
The federal government, THISDAY reliably learnt is considering decommissioning the Rivers Port, which serves the South-south and South-east business concerns, following the outcome of a study by a consultant, commissioned by the Nigerian Ports Authority, Messrs Cares Limited, which said the port, having ended its lifespan, had become unsafe for use.

MANSA congratulates PSA s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal for handling its one-millionth TEU
Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies - India (MANSA) has joined the maritime fraternity in congratulating PSA s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT) at JNPT in handling its one millionth TEU.
"It goes to the credit of the BMCT to achieve this milestone in a span of just 20 months since it commenced operations in February last year. We wish that the next milestone will continue to come up much faster than expected and our ship-agent members will also play their small but significant role in taking the terminal to great heights," said Captain Amit Wason, President, MANSA.

AVPPL told to expedite Vizhinjam port work
The State government has asked Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Ltd (AVPPL) tasked with the execution of the International Multi-Purpose Deepwater Seaport project at Vizhinjam to expedite the work on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.
The directive comes as it is clear that the deadline of December 3, 2019 fixed for the completion of the Phase I of the project in the concession pact between the State and the AVPPL will be missed.

Duisburger Hafen AG to receive the largest hinterland terminal in Europe
Logistics follows coal. The largest container terminal in the European hinterland is being developed in the Port of Duisburg. Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport) will withdraw its coal island from the market, starting in 2020, and build a trimodal container terminal on the site together with its international partners COSCO SHIPPING Logistics, Hupac SA, and HTS Group.

Cameroon calls for freeze on Douala port contract over Bollore court case
Cameroon s president has ordered its main Douala port to suspend contract talks with Swiss firm Terminal Investment Limited (TIL) until the conclusion of a court case brought by France s Bollore, according to a letter seen by Reuters.
TIL was chosen to renovate and manage the Atlantic port in September after Bollore, which had managed the hub since 2015, was eliminated earlier in the bidding process as it sought to renew its contract. It is contesting the decision in the Cameroonian courts.
