Igoumenitsa Port to Reduce GHG Emissions, Congestion with New Quay
The European Commission has approved Greece s plans to grant EUR 47.3 million (USD 52 million) of public support for the construction of a new quay in the ferry port of Igoumenitsa on the north-west coast of Greece.

Nauticor: 1st Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering Op Carried Out in Germany
The world s largest LNG bunker supply vessel Kairos has conducted the first ship-to-ship bunkering operation in German waters.

Zero-Emissions Equipment Deployed to Port Terminals
In recognition of California Clean Air Day, the Port of Long Beach announced the demonstration of hydrogen- and electric-powered cargo handling equipment at two shipping terminals, in pursuit of its goal to become the world s first zero-emissions seaport.
The new equipment was purchased through a $5.3 million grant from the California Air Resources Board as part of the "C-PORT," or Commercialization of POLB Off-Road Technology Project. Northport favoured to replace Auckland s port, and it would bring 2000 jobs
A high-powered working group has recommended that Ports of Auckland undergoes a managed shut-down and its operations be shifted to Northport.

Townsville to export first frozen beef in more than a decade
The first frozen beef shipment from the Port of Townsville for more than a decade leaves today, amid hopes of a new export trade directly from North Queensland s largest general cargo port.
Mackay abattoir, Thomas Borthwick & Sons (Australia) Pty Ltd, which processes around 2,400 head of cattle a week, mainly for the Chinese and Japanese markets, is undertaking the Port of Townsville trial as a northern supply chain alternative.

Nigeria s ambitious port plans to link north to south
Nigeria is constructing a series of new ports over the next few years, as it looks to boost revenue and diversify economic progress nationwide.
Earlier this week, the Cross River state government received an Outline Business Case certificate (OBC) for its Bakassi Deep Seaport project. The OBC allows Cross River state to move onto the next phase for approval by the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission.
