Seaspan Prepays Credit Facility on Six Vessels
Hong Kong-based Seaspan Corporation has prepaid a credit facility which was secured by six of its vessels.
The company said that, upon completion of the collateral release documentation, this will expand Seaspan s pool of unencumbered vessels from 18, as reported in its third quarter of 2018 earnings report, to 24 vessels.

Tufton Oceanic Expands Fleet with Another Containership
Fund management firm Tufton Oceanic Assets Limited has reached an agreement to acquire another containership.
The company would pay USD 13 million for the vessel, which will have a time charter of two years to an undisclosed private operator of containerships specialising in fresh fruit transport.

Hapag-Lloyd, KLU Open New Research Center for Shipping and Logistics
German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has joined forces with compatriot Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in opening a new research center in Hamburg that specializes in maritime logistics.
Inaugurated on November 22, 2018, the Hapag-Lloyd Center for Shipping and Global Logistics (CSGL) will be an integral part of KLU.

CMA CGM s Earnings Drop as Fuel Prices Continue Rising
French container shipping giant CMA CGM has witnessed a steep drop in its earnings as fuel prices continued rising in the third quarter of 2018.
The company s net income stood at USD 103.1 million, falling by 68.1 percent from USD 323.3 million reported in the same period a year earlier.

Latsco Shipping Orders LNG Carrier Duo from Hyundai
Greece-based Latsco Shipping has reportedly placed an order for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers in South Korea.
According to data provided by Asiasis, the 174,000 cbm vessels, ordered through Latsco Shipping s Consolidated Marine Management, would be constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Yamal LNG Completes 1st STS LNG Transshipment in Norway
Yamal LNG has completed the first ship-to-ship (STS) LNG transshipment in the area near the port of Honningsvag in northern Norway.
The Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker Vladimir Rusanov reloaded some 170,000 cbm of LNG delivered from the Yamal LNG facility at Sabetta to the lower ice-class designated tanker Pskov on November 24, 2018.

Cargo ship sank in Flores sea, 7 missing Update
Update Nov 25: The ship issued distress signal in the evening Nov 22. Nearby general cargo ship CAHAYA ABADI 201 (IMO 8603298) was the first to arrive at disaster site, near Pulau Kapoposang Bali, north of West Nusa Tenggara. CAHAYA ABADI 201 located and rescued 7 crew, floating in the water in life jackets, and spotted a lot of debris from sunken ship.

Eastern Pacific Shipping: Two Tankers Delivered, Two More Ordered
Singapore-based ship management company Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of two Aframax tankers from Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction - Philippines.
Named M/V Iberian Sea and M/V Levantine Sea, the two tankers feature 114,000 in dwt each and were ordered back in 2015.

700 Jobs Safe as Norway Says No to Color Line Reflagging
The Norwegian Government has ruled against the reflagging of Color Line vessels under the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS) flag, thereby securing jobs for 700 Norwegian seafarers.
The Norwegian Seafarers Union (NSU), an affiliate of the International Transport Workers Federation, won the fight to keep the vessels under the Norwegian Ordinary Ship Register (NOR), securing the jobs and maintaining the wages and conditions of the country s seafarers.

EC: No State Aid Granted to Container Terminal Operators at the Port of Antwerp
Reductions in compensation payments given by the state-owned Port of Antwerp to two container terminal operators were granted on market terms and hence do not involve state aid within the meaning of EU rules, the European Commission said.
In 2004, the Antwerp Port Authority, a public authority in Belgium which manages the Port of Antwerp, concluded concession agreements with two container terminal operators, PSA Antwerp NV and Antwerp Gateway NV.

Poland to launch tender for LNG terminal development
Poland is planning to call in December a tender procedure for the expansion of its LNG terminal in Northern Poland, said state-controlled Polskie LNG.
"After the expansion, the terminal s regasification capacity will be increased and the range of transshipment services will be extended in order to maximize the plant s potential," the company that operates the terminal said in the statement.

Greece opens new LNG tank to boost energy hub ambitions
Greece inaugurated a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank to boost its storage capacity and bolster its ambitions to become a regional energy hub.
Greece, which relies on Russian gas for its energy needs, has said it expects 4 billion euros in investments by 2030 in gas pipelines, networks and storage facilities.
