Flex LNG Bags New Charter Deal with Endesa
Bermuda-based LNG carrier owner Flex LNG has entered into a new time charter with Spanish electric utility company Endesa, part of Enel Group, for the vessel Flex Ranger.
As informed, the firm period under the new time charter is twelve months and will commence in direct continuation of an existing time charter with Enel which expires on or about June 2020.

Vard, Ponant Finalize Contract for Two Expedition Cruise Ships
Norwegian shipbuilder Vard, a subsidiary of Fincantieri, and French cruise company Ponant have signed a contract for the construction of two next-generation luxury expedition cruise vessels.
The contract follows the memorandum of agreement (MoA) inked between Fincantieri and Ponant in November 2019.
The new eco units, due for delivery in 2022, will represent an evolution of the Ponant Explorers class vessels.

CMIT Becomes 1st Terminal in Vietnam to Join TradeLens
Vietnam s Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT), a joint venture between Vinalines, Saigon Port and APM Terminals, has joined the TradeLens digital platform in support of the blockchain technology.
CMIT is one of the largest terminals in Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water gateway port complex, which currently accommodates mainline vessels with a capacity of up to 194,000= dwt/21,500 TEU connecting Vietnam directly with main markets in Europe, North America and Asia.

Svitzer to Become Sole Owner of Port Towage Amsterdam
Danish marine services provider Svitzer, part of Maersk, revealed it would be taking full control of Port Towage Amsterdam (PTA) from January 2020.
PTA, which operates in the IJmuiden and Amsterdam port area, was formed in 2014 as a joint venture between Svitzer and Dutch Iskes Towage and Salvage.
Under the deal, Svitzer acquires the shares from Iskes Towage and Salvage, obtaining the 100% ownership of PTA.

DLDS launches container tracking service at Kamarajar Port
DMICDC Logistics Data Services (DLDS) has launched its container tracking service, Logistics Data Bank, at Kamarajar Port, Ennore in Tamil Nadu.
DLDS flagship solution, LDB, is a single-window container tracking solution aimed at improving operations in container logistics. It began its operations in the western corridor, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in the year 2016, and later extended it to Hazira and Mundra ports of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) in the year 2017.
With the inclusion of Kamarajar Port, Ennore-Chennai LDB's ICT-based services have become operational across 25 port terminals of India.
LDB currently handles 96% per cent of India's container. The extension of LDB's services at Kamarajar Port follows a milestone of 21 million EXIM containers tracked by its single-window interface.
DLDS container tracking solution has reduced the port dwell time and overall transportation time for export and import of shipments in the country.

Harjeet Kaur Joshi becomes first woman to helm Shipping Corporation
Harjeet Kaur Joshi has been appointed as the full-time Chairperson and Managing Director of privatisation-bound Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), becoming the first woman to helm the country's biggest ocean carrier by fleet size.
Harjeet Kaur's appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Harjeet Kaur's appointment is valid till her superannuation on May 31, 2022 or until further orders, the ACC said in a communication to the Shipping Ministry which controls SCI.
Harjeet Kaur is currently the Director finance at SCI and since September 12 has been holding the additional charge of the Chairperson and Managing Director of the navratna PSU.
The government has decided to sell its 63.75 per cent in SCI, to a private strategic buyer and the stake sale is in process.

U.S. removes sanctions on Latvia s second-largest port
The United States has removed its sanctions on one of Latvia s main ports after the Baltic country s government took control of the port, the U.S. Treasury Department said.
Latvia s parliament passed legislation last week to take control of the country’s two biggest ports in an effort to keep them open after U.S. sanctions against a Latvian oligarch threatened operations.

Felixstowe: Strike dates set for UK s busiest container port
Workers at the UK s busiest container port will take strike action for two days after Christmas in a dispute over outsourcing.
The union Unite claims the Port of Felixstowe is transferring engineering jobs to cut costs, and fears it is "the thin end of the wedge".

Kipevu Oil Terminal work at 40% in eleven months
Construction of the Sh39 billion new Kipevu Oil Terminal(KOT) is 40 per cent done, eleven months into the work, according to Kenya Ports Authority.
The project is being developed by China Communications Construction Company(CCCC), commenced on February 1, with a timeline of 30 months.

Egypt s wheat inspectors to resume cargo checks at origin ports
Egypt, the world s largest wheat buyer, will allow travelling delegations of its agricultural inspectors to resume checks of wheat cargoes purchased during state tenders at the port of origin, traders said.
Government quarantine inspectors had in the past travelled the world on fully-funded trips, at the expense of supply companies aiming to secure smooth passage for their wheat.

India: Slide in coal volumes pulls down cargo volumes to 0.4% at major ports
A fall of 9.5 per cent in coal volumes contained the cargo growth of major ports to 0.4 per cent during April-October period of this fiscal. In contrast, coal volumes grew by 11 per cent in FY19.
Apart from the slump in coal imports, despatches by Coal India Ltd (CIL) fell by 7 per cent in the period to 364 million tonnes (mt) from 392 mt in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
