Sempra Energy Gets Final EIS for Port Arthur LNG Project
Sempra Energy s Port Arthur LNG export project and two natural gas pipelines have received the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The proposed Port Arthur LNG project in Jefferson County, Texas, is expected to include two natural gas liquefaction trains capable of processing 11 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas, up to three LNG storage tanks and associated facilities and new natural gas transmission pipelines in Texas and Louisiana.

Paddy Rodgers, the CEO of Belgium s tanker shipping company Euronav, has decided to step down from his role during 2019 after 18 years of service.

Construction of Brisbane s Mega Cruise Terminal Moves Forward
Australian Port of Brisbane has announced the principal contractors for its AUD 158 million (USD 114.3 million) Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, paving the way for construction to begin in the coming months.
Wharf construction will be undertaken by Brady Marine & Civil, a specialist marine infrastructure and engineering contractor headquartered in Brisbane.

PIL Trials Delivery Using IBM Blockchain Platform
Singapore s shipping company Pacific International Lines (PIL) has used an electronic bill of lading (e-BL) built on the IBM Blockchain Platform in a successful real-time pilot tracking shipment of mandarin oranges from China to Singapore.
With the use of IBM Blockchain powered e-BL, the trial has produced a significant reduction in the administrative process of transferring the title deed from five to seven days to just one second, according to PIL.

Intercargo: Cargo Liquefaction Still a Major Risk for Dry Bulk Shipping
Moisture related cargo failure mechanisms, known as liquefaction, continue to be a major concern for dry bulk shipping, according to the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (Intercargo).
Although there has been no reported loss of life or loss of ship attributed to liquefaction in 2018, Intercargo urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant as cargo liquefaction continues to pose a major threat to the life of seafarers.

Drewry: Up to 40 Capesizes Could Lose Employment in 2019 due to Vale Dam Collapse
The latest disaster at the Brazilian mine Corrego de Feijao is likely to reduce Capesize demand by some 35-40 vessels in 2019, according to UK-based shipping consultancy Drewry.
To remind, the breach of the upstream Dam I of the Brumadinho-based mine occurred in the early afternoon of January 25, 2019, releasing a tsunami of toxic mud that swept across the area damaging buildings and trapping hundreds of people.

Iraq completes repairs on Basra offshore oil terminal
Repairs on a Basra floating oil terminal in the Gulf that was damaged by a tanker collision earlier this week were completed on Friday, Iraq s state-run Basra Oil Company said. An oil tanker collided with a single point mooring (SPM) on Jan. 30 and was lightly damaged, the company said in a statement.

Port Operator KFTL Boasts Record Container Moves In A Day
Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited, KFTL, a subsidiary of the French-based shipping company CMA CGM, said that on January 24 it recorded the best performance ever in the history of the port of Kingston in terms of container moves.
Kingston Freeport, which has leased Kingston Container Terminal, KCT, under a 30-year concession, said a total of 3,304 moves were handled within 24 hours of operation on the Post-Panamax vessel Cosco Beijing, which arrived at the terminal on January 24.

Creditors panel approve JNPT s BID to buy debt-laden Dighi Port
The Committee of Creditors (CoC) has backed the resolution plan placed by state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to buy the debt-laden Dighi Port Ltd under India s bankruptcy and insolvency law.
The approval of the lenders panel will be submitted to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for ratification, at least two people briefed on the decision told BusinessLine.
