Yilport Wraps Up Taranto Container Terminal Takeover
Turkish port operator Yilport Holding, part of Yildirim Group, has officially taken over the Italian Taranto Container Terminal under a 49-year concession agreement.
On February 27, 2020, Yilport and the Port System Authority of the Ionian Sea formalized the concession deal by delivering the property and the facilities of the Polysectoral Pier to the San Cataldo Container Terminal (SCCT), a subsidiary of Yilport.Posted On:7-Mar-2020

Management Loses Contact with Cargo Ship after Pirate Attack Alert
The management of the cargo vessel identified as Huanghai Glory has lost contact with the ship s crew after the ship sent out a pirate attack alert.
The ship is believed to have been boarded by pirates some 84 nautical miles off South Lagos on March 5, 2020.
"An unknown number of perpetrators are understood to have boarded the vessel. Currently, the vessel is drifting, with 23 crew members on board believed to be Chinese nationals," Dryad Global said.Posted On:7-Mar-2020

No entry for shipping crew at Indian ports
As many as 16,076 crew and passengers onboard ships from China or having travel history to affected countries have not been allowed to disembark at Indian ports, a shipping ministry official said on Thursday.

Knowledge transfer between Rotterdam and SOHAR works both ways
The Omani city of Sohar has played a role in global sea trade for centuries. It s even said that Sinbad the Sailor came from there. The history of today s modern sea port, SOHAR Port & Freezone, is somewhat more recent. This is a 50/50 joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the government of the Sultanate of Oman. The port in the north of Oman welcomed its first seagoing vessel in 2004.
