Amsterdam ferry trips resume after three-month break.
The Newcastle to Amsterdam service is now open to passengers, marking the first time in three months it has been able to operate following Covid-19 restrictions being imposed.
In response to the UK Government s announcement that it will remove quarantine restrictions for travellers from Friday, July 10, ferry operator DFDS confirmed that its Newcastle to Amsterdam route would reopen from today, with a sailing from Amsterdam.Posted On:17-Jul-2020

Fiji : MSAF to prioritize safety of passengers.
The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji will continue to prioritize the safety of those that rely on shipping services come the next financial year.
Transport Minister Faiyaz Koya says MSAF has taken a positive step in improving certain aspects of its services that will guarantee customer satisfaction.

Recommended Guidance For Covid-19 Testing & Quarantine Requirements For Seafarers Joining Ships.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and International Maritime Health Association (IMHA) have recently issued COVID-19 guidance in regard to both testing and the quarantine of seafarers in advance to their joining vessels.
The WHO has updated its list of globally approved, authorized and recommended manufacturers, and specified polymerise chain reaction (PCR) tests, which can be used by shipowners in liaison with their own healthcare providers. The list can be found here.Posted On:17-Jul-2020

India : Stranded AP seafarer yearns to return home.
A seafarer from Andhra Pradesh, who escaped from Somalian pirates aboard a ship near Nigeria last year, is desperately seeking help to return home. Twenty four-year-old Jarjana Sankara Rao is stranded on MT Apecus at Bonny Island anchorage in Nigeria.
Shankara Rao has written to director-general of shipping, government of India, Amitabh Kumar to help him out of a situation. "My sufferings are plenty. I am mentally and physically broke," Sankara Rao, who hails from Vizianagaram.Posted On:17-Jul-2020

300000 seafarers still trapped on ships by crew change crisis.
A global summit hosted by the U.K. Government on July 9, 2020, on the impact of COVID-19 on crew changes may have gotten some headlines, but so far doesn’t seem to have done much to resolve the issue,
On Friday, the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) estimates that there are now approximately 300,000 seafarers trapped working aboard ships due to the crew change crisis, with an equal number of unemployed seafarers waiting to join their ships who are ashore. USA : Extending Cruise Ban, C.D.C. Says Ships Helped Spread Coronavirus.
