India : Crew change in Kerala gets entangled in light house dues.
The levy of light house dues on ships arriving at or departing from a port in India has taken a controversial turn following the divergent stand taken by the Customs Department on collecting the statutory levy during crew change on ships at the outer anchorages of two ports in Kerala.
Light house dues are not levied on ships arriving at the outer anchorage of Central Government-owned Cochin Port Trust, which has become a favourite location for ship-owners and managers for crew change since April, in the midst of travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic.Posted On:7-Aug-2020

Montenegro : Seafarers in Severe Problem: PCR Testing Not Available for Them in MNE.
Montenegrin seafarers face a severe problem in the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic. Over 600 Ghanaian seafarers are stranded abroad due to the Coronavirus pandemic which has led to partial boarder closures globally, data from maritime services provider, Schulte Maritime Services Ghana (SMSG) - a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Schulte Group - has shown.

Crew change crunch is shipping s largest ever humanitarian and logistical crisis .
Belgian tanker giant Euronav announced its interim results today, and spent plenty of time discussing the crew change crunch.
In a release, the company described the ongoing seafarer impasse as "the largest ever humanitarian and logistical crisis facing the maritime sector".

Three ships idled in Australian ports as over-contract crew seek repatriation.
Crews on at least three ships in Australian waters have stopped working their ships following expiration of their contracts. The seafarers are bidding for repatriation as the crew change crisis caused by COVID-19 related travel bans drags on.

Cruise employees were stuck on a ship and forced to work without pay, lawsuit says.
When cruises were first told to anchor in March as the coronavirus pandemic hit, the Bahamas Paradise line presented Dragan Janicijevic and other crew members with a choice, he said: Agree to stay on their docked ship without pay, or never work for the company again.
