HMM Inks Final Contracts for 20 Boxship Giants
South Korean shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has signed formal contracts for its twenty eco-friendly mega containerships with three shipyards.
Under the deals, signed on September 28, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) will build seven and five 23,000 TEU containerships, respectively, which are expected for delivery in the second quarter of 2020.

G E Shipping s Kamsarmax Finds New Owner
Mumbai-based shipping company Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has agreed to sell one of its Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers, Jag Arya.
Although G E Shipping has not identified the buyer of the bulker, VesselsValue s data shows that Trade Fortune from Greece purchased Jag Arya for USD 18.8 million.

Carnival Corp s Income Continues Rising
Miami-based cruise company Carnival Corporation & plc delivered record third quarter revenues and earnings, and authorized the replenishment of its USD 1 billion share repurchase program.
The company s net income reached USD 1.7 billion for the third quarter of 2018, higher than net income of USD 1.3 billion seen in the same period a year earlier.

Two More MPP Newbuilds for dship Carriers
Multipurpose vessel owner and operator dship Carriers, part of Germany s deugro Group, has added to its fleet a further two F-500 Eco Trader newbuildings. The ship pair now completes the series of four units for dship Carriers.

Tanker held by shoaling effect, Scheldt
Update: Inspection didn t find any damages, tanker was cleared to dock. As it is reported by local sources, it wasn t bottom contact, tanker encountered shoaling effect, which kept her on one spot for about an hour.

Ferry hard aground, Indonesia
Ferry SABUK NUSANTARA 35 ran aground in position 02 14N 097 47E, some 3 nm south of Sngkil port, Aceh Province, northwest Sumatra, at around 1930 LT Sep 26, shortly after leaving Singkil, bound for Banjak Islands, west of Singkil. There were 12 passengers, 20 crew and some vehicles on board. By morning Sep 27 passengers were evacuated, ferry reportedly is hard aground, no salvage commenced yet. GasLog Partners Sells USD 53 Mn Worth of Shares to Tortoise
Owner and operator of LNG carriers GasLog Partners has agreed to sell 2,250,000 common units to funds managed by Tortoise Capital Advisors (Tortoise) for gross proceeds of USD 53.1 million.
The partnership plans to use the net proceeds from the sale for general partnership purposes, which may include future acquisitions, debt repayment, capital expenditures and additions to working capital.

Norwaegian gas carrier company IMSK SE, formerly known as I.M. Skaugen SE, is likely to be liquidated having failed to secure support for its restructuring plan. The liquidation scenario emerges as talks with the company s key creditors led by Nordea fell through.

Barcelona Unaffected By Cyber Attack
Operations at the Port of Barcelona have remained unaffected by a cyber attack last week. Following the cyber attack on Thursday 20 September, the port warned on Twitter that delivery and reception of goods may be delayed but on 22 September stated it hadn t altered its seaside and land operations and that its Information Systems Department had only found issues with internal functionality, which it was working to recover.

Latin America s next wave of maritime, port and inland freight logistics - demand and supply under the spotlight
Latin America and the Caribbean need an estimated US$55 billion investment in maritime and port logistics infrastructure over the next two decades. English High Court continues restraint against Djibouti Port Company over shares in Joint Venture
The High Court of England and Wales in London has continued the injunction first made on 31 August 2018, prohibiting the Government of Djibouti s port company, Port de Djibouti S.A. ("PDSA") from interfering with the management of the joint venture company, Doraleh Container Terminal S.A. ("DCT").
