Cry  Hi, Freinds, I think it is too late for companies to understand that we too have family and other requirement ashore. Why not Indian shipmanagement complanies collectively move forward for shorter contracts!!! Is it only because they have to shed few dollars more in air tickets that they are convincing shipowners that human beings are wanting to stay isolated longer !!! invite response

Yes, short contracts are very much required to stop officers leaving shipping career and to avoid fatigue and accidents.
Companies and our unions should look on to it seriously and act immediately.

definitely , officers work power deterioate due to long contract on board, but if deeply calculated the cost , then the management/ owner is looser as it mental absence on board hamper lot of valuable things and / maintenance .
 
So short contract is admire/advacated .
