semi-refrigerated and ethylene capable gas carriers providing seaborne services for the
transportation of liquified petroleum gas (LPG), petrochemicals and other specialty gases.
We are headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Copenhagen, Manila, and Tokyo. Our
vessels serve as a crucial link in the international gas supply chains of leading oil majors
and commodity trading houses throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, West
Africa, and the Americas. We employ approximately 2,000 seafarers and a multinational
team of about 200 shore-based staff.
BW Epic Kosan invites applications for the position of  
MARINE OPERATIONS MANAGER - COPENHAGEN OFFICE
MARINE & SECURITY UNIT - TECHNICAL DEPARTMEN

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to Fleet Manager, Marine & Security.
  • Manage the daily Marine operational aspects of a group of vessels covering - navigation, mooring, deck equipment, safety equipment, Port arrival / departure & STS operations and general condition.
  • Manage and ensure safe cargo operations of loading / discharging, grade change, tank preparation.
  • Work in conjunction with the Technical team for Drydock specification, planning and execution.
  • Responsible for the vessel's 3rd party inspections - SIRE, CDI, PSC, USCG, Terminal, Flag etc.
  • Conduct Management Inspections and Internal audits on ships. Identify areas for improvement and verify implementation of corrective and preventive action.
  • Review and respond to vessel reports - Navigational, Safety, SIRE/CDI inspection, PSC inspections, Internal audits, Near misses, Incidents/Accidents.
  • Liaise with interested parties such as Class, Oil Majors, Ship Owners, Suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure vessels are certificated in accordance to International regulations.
  • Review vessels record keeping and documentation to comply to international regulations and Company's Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage and monitor all planned and unplanned repairs to ensure conducted safely.
  • Prepare and conduct training for officers and crew.
  • Conduct safety, environmental and security drills onboard to assess effectiveness.
  • Conduct appraisals of Officers and recommend actions.
  • Interview deck officers to evaluate suitability for selection/promotion.
  • Conduct investigation of incidents/accidents on board when appointed to do so by the Fleet Managers.

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Holding Master Mariner Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailing experience as a Master or Chief Officer on LPG / Ethylene / Ethane Vessels.
  • Technologically driven, comfortable working in a digital environment, logical process development.
  • No shore experience required.
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage 24/7 on call lifestyle.
  • Ability to develop, improve and implement safe, and cost-effective technical vessel management processes.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations governing vessels' management.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills.
  • Independent, outcome driven, organized and resourceful.
  • Strong team orientation and has the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

    SHIP MANAGER - COPENHAGEN OFFICE
    TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

    Ensure the safe and environmentally friendly operation of 4-5 vessels

    In this officed-based role, you will have technical, operational and financial responsibilities, which include the day-
    to-day management of your assigned vessels.

    You can expect to spend about half your time planning and arranging logistics. Other key tasks include updating
    and maintaining systems and inspecting vessels (which leads to about 60-80 travel days annually).

    Much of your collaboration will be with captains, crews and our technical managers. You will also be in contact
    with the Vetting department, our Crewing department, and commercial operators. External relations
    include suppliers, subcontractors, dry docks, class, oil majors and shipowners.


    Qualifications:

    We are seeking a Ship Manager with knowledge of regulations governing the marine industry under IMO, such as
    ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and STCW, and someone who understands how to access information when required.

    Your experience enables you to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously without compromising
    quality or precision. You can confidently operate independently in a dynamic environment with a high degree of
    responsibility, freedom and short power distances.


    Additionally, you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience from a similar role or as a chief engineer with a shipping company or classification society.
  • Great communication skills in English.
  • Experience navigating a multicultural environment and collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Possibility of staying at the Singapore office for a period of up to 6 months in induction period

    GASTECH SUPERINTENDENT
    TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

    Task &: Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Fleet Manager, GasTech. Responsible for the onboard condition and performance monitoring of the Cargo and N2 systems, including but not limited to operational support, technical maintenance support as per the company's IMS procedures and policies and onboard competence development of the ship staff.
  • Experienced in handling refrigerated gas cargoes – Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, VCM.
  • Support the Marine Operation Managers, Ship managers and Commercial Team on matters related to gas technical issues and cargo handling.
  • Visit and sail onboard as per designated schedules to carry out inspections, get firsthand overview of the vessel's cargo equipment condition, and assess the crew competencies. Prepare Management inspection reports / Audit reports related to Cargo equipment.
  • Visit and sail onboard to support and assist the Fleet vessels ship staff in case of Cargo equipment and instrumentation related technical problems or critical Cargo operations with respect to operational performance, compliance with rules and regulations, maintenance processes, best practice procedures, and knowledge / experience sharing.
  • Inspect and assess the performance of cargo and N2 plants onboard to be in line with design operational parameters, compliance with procedures and industry best practices.
  • All vessel's cooling down, heating / partial heating of cargoes, PSA plant performance testing reports to be reviewed at scheduled interval and optimised for safest and efficient results.
  • Inspect for compliance with company standards for refrigerant management on board.
  • Attend onboard to support proactive maintenance and service of cargo and PSA/N2 plants, associated with electrical / electronic cargo instrumentation in cooperation with Technical team.
  • Inspect the portable gas instrumentation for the vessels and support with shore service and calibration. Provide gas detection and sensor calibration related procedures, maintenance guidance and crew training procedures.
  • Review the Technical Fleet Systems Planned Maintenance System onboard to verify it is continuously maintained and updated with Cargo and N2 related equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable risk assessments as required by the company's Safety, Security, Health, Hygiene & Environment standards.
  • Drive safety behaviour and lead by example as an ambassador for safety culture.
  • Propose continual improvements to HSSE & Compliance team related to the Cargo handling, Gas Carrier Manual procedures based on vessels feedback, new requirements, changing technologies, market needs and specific customer requirements. Implement finalized improvements fleetwide.
  • Liaise with the Emissions & Efficiency team to enhance safety and operational performance by embracing innovative and modern technologies, and progress fleet's digitalization.
  • Liaise with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to provide inputs in development of shore training programs for Gas engineer and ETO related to cargo equipment / instrumentation.
  • Responsible for onboard competence development and training of Gas engineers / ETO on cargo matters. Review the Gas Competency Development program (GCDP) modules.
  • Engage in crew competence maturing and training incl. crew seminars and training clinics.
  • Support the development of BWEK cargo simulator and implementation.
  • Support newbuilding projects regarding layout, operation, and performance of cargo plants.
  • Assist as required for Incident investigation on cargo related matters. Propose preventive and corrective actions to the HSSE & Compliance team for finalization. Responsible for implementation of these actions. Periodically update the implementation progress to Fleet Manager Gas Tech/ Head of Marine Assurance / Technical Director.

  • Requirements:
  • Sailing experience as Chief Engineer, or 2nd Engineer, or Cargo Engineer, or relevant process engineering experience in Gas Plants.
  • Sailing or process handling experience on LPG / Ethylene / Ethane Vessels
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage 24/7 on call lifestyle.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills.
  • Independent, outcome driven, organized and resourceful.
  • Strong team orientation and has the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • You will be rotated from vessel to vessel on a basis of minimum 210 working days per calendar year.
