Bulk carrier reportedly attacked in Gulf of Guinea
Bulk carrier VINALINES MIGHTY reportedly was attacked at around 0130 UTC Dec 30 in Gulf of Guinea some 150 nm NW of Sao Tome, 200 nm SW of Bonny. Identity of attacked ship not yet conformed. If it s VINALINES MIGHTY, her track shows with high probability, that she avoided attack and escaped. Bulk carrier is en route from Douala Cameroon to Greenville Liberia. Awaiting ship s ID confirmation and further details. One more bulk carrier could be in the same area, her last AIS as of 0600 UTC Dec 30, was some 14 hours late.

Diana Shipping Offloads 14-Year Old Panamax
Greek dry bulker owner Diana Shipping Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Agreement to sell the 2005-built vessel Calipso to an unnamed third party.
As disclosed, the ship is sold for USD 7.275 million before commissions, and it is scheduled for delivery to the buyer latest by January 30, 2020.
Calipso is a 73,700 DWT Panamax bulk carrier, disposing 90,624 in cbm and build by Jiangnan Shanghai Changxing Hi from China. According to the data from Vessels Value, the ship is on time charter with the Hong Kong-based Crystal Sea until the end of December 2019. The two-month charter is set at USD 15,400 per day.
Upon completion of the aforementioned sale, Diana Shipping Inc. s fleet will consist of 41 dry bulk vessels, including 4 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 5 Kamsarmax and 13 Panamax.
The combined carrying capacity of the company s fleet, including the m/v Calipso, is approximately 5.2 million dwt with a weighted average age of 9.53 years.
Diana has sold a total of seven ships, since December 2018, pushing down the company s time charter revenues for the third quarter of 2019 to USD 53.5 million, compared to USD 61.5 million for the same period of 2018.

Diamond S Obtains USD 525 Mn to Finance Debt
New York-listed owner and operator of crude and product tankers Diamond S Shipping Inc. has closed on a five-year USD 525 million credit facility.
The company said that the facility is composed of a USD 375 million term loan and a USD 150 million revolving credit facility.
Proceeds from the new credit facility were used to repay approximately USD 501 million of the company s current outstanding term loans.
The repayment profile reflects a 17-year, age-adjusted amortization and the first amortization period begins on March 31, 2020. The covenant structure of the new facility is in-line with current facilities.
"We are pleased that we were able to close on this facility and achieve a number of important goals, particularly given the challenging international environment for ship lending," said Kevin Kilcullen, Chief Financial Officer.
"We have also accomplished a number of other objectives including increasing our available liquidity, lowering our average interest rate margin and improving our financial flexibility to support the growth of Diamond S."
The facility was secured by international ship lending banks including Nordea Bank Abp (New York Branch), Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ), ABN AMRO, National Australia Bank and BNP Paribas.
The Greenwich-based company owns and operates 66 vessels, including 15 Suezmax vessels, one Aframax and 50 medium-range (MR) product tankers.

Songa Iridium Hits the Shore in Bosphorus Strait
Liberian-flagged Sub Panamax container Songa Iridium ran aground in the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, Turkey, on December 27, 2019.
The ship crashed into the shore near Rumelihisari, an Ottoman fortress located on the European banks of the Bosphorus.
The vessel, with 19 crew members on board, was sailing with a pilot on board when it experienced a mechanical failure and hit the shore, according to a statement from the Istanbul governorship. There were no injuries reported to the crew.
Rescue tugs and coast guard teams were sent immediately to the scene. Based on the initial information, there was no environmental pollution from the incident. The traffic in the strait was suspended after the collision for a short period. The traffic reopened on Friday afternoon after the vessel was towed from the incident site.
The 2008-built is owned by Norwegian shipowner Songa Container AS, data from VesselsValue shows.

Norwegian fishing vessel sank in Barents sea, 12 crew rescued
Fishing vessel FAY reported sinking around midday Dec 28 in Barents sea, N of Honningsvag, Norway. Cause of sinking unclear. 12 crew were rescued by rescue helicopter Sea King. Fishing vessel according to Redningsselskapet RS (The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue), sank at 1325 LT.

OSG to Take Full Ownership of Alaska Tanker Company
U.S.-based tanker company Overseas Shipholding Group has inked deals with BP Oil Shipping Company USA and BP AMI Leasing Inc. to purchase U.S.-flagged crude oil carrier vessels operated by Alaska Tanker Company LLC (ATC).
OSG currently owns a 37.5% interest in ATC, which has a fleet of four tankers. As part of the deal, OSG plans to acquire the remaining 62.5% interest of ATC that it does not own.

SAAM Towage Secures LNG Terminal Gig in El Salvador
SAAM Towage, a towage unit of Chilean company Sociedad Matriz SAAM, is entering into a new market, namely El Salvador, where the company will provide services to Salvadorian energy company Energia del Pacifico (EDP) and its new LNG terminal.
The long-term agreement with EDP calls for the allocation of three tugs, two of which are new, to power plant operations. The vessels are azimuth tugs, 32 meters in length, specially designed to meet the requirements of offshore operations and escort vessels.

Adani Ports acquires 40.25 per cent stake in Snowman Logistics
Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd (APSEZ) has ventured into cold chain logistics business by acquiring a 40.25 per cent stake in Bengaluru-based Snowman Logistics for Rs 296 crore.
The price of the deal was at Rs 44 per share, a 3.2 per cent premium to the market price of December 27, and a 12 per cent premium to the 60-day volume-weighted average price (VWAP).

US$452-million Kingston port modernisation project nearing completion
The US$452-million port modernisation project is moving towards completion in Kingston, and it is already remaking Jamaica s major port.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), based in Washington DC, is providing two loans, amounting to US $215 million, while China Infrastructure Fund has given a loan commitment of US$50 million to Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) for the project to modernise the port of Kingston.

The Chittagong port has made it to the list of ‘three millionaire ports club in the world by handling 30 lakh twenty-foot equivalent units of containers this year. There are 60 such seaports around the globe.

IMO 2020 set to boost Fujairah s bunker industry
A century after the shipping industry moved from coal to oil as its primary energy source, another change on the same scale is now under way - one prompted this time by a change in environmental regulations. The shift could provide a significant boost to the status of the UAE s East Coast Port of Fujairah as a global oil hub.
The London-based UN body, the International Maritime Organisation, has toughened its rules on marine fuel emissions, setting a global sulphur content limit of 0.5 percent to come into effect from 1st January 2020.
