Product tanker company d Amico International Shipping (DIS) has through its Ireland-based subsidiary d Amico Tankers signed a memorandum of agreement and bareboat charter contract for the sale and leaseback of a medium-range product tanker.

Euronav CEO Calls for More Recycling, Ordering Restraint
Fresh from merging with Gener8 Maritime, Belgian crude oil tanker company Euronav reported a net loss of USD 51.6 million for the first half of 2018. Proportionate EBITDA for the same period was USD 98.8 million, down from USD 151.8 million year-on-year.

DHT Bets on Super-Profits from Scrubber Retrofits as It Considers Host of Financing Options
Norwegian crude oil tanker company DHT Holdings has received numerous proposals to finance the scrubber retrofitting project for 12 of its very large crude carriers, the company said.
The tanker owner and operator has inked a deal with Swedish company Alfa Laval for the supply of scrubbers, and has secured shipyard capacity to install all systems within 2019, making them ready for the IMO s 2020 sulphur cap. Unknown Ship Involved in Hit and Run off India
An unknown merchant vessel has collided with the Indian fishing boat Oceanic, leaving three fishermen dead, two hospitalized and nine more missing.
There were 14 Indian fishermen in the fishing boat at the time. The Indian Ministry of Shipping confirmed that three of them are deceased, while two suffered injuries and have been hospitalized. New marine nitrogen generator reduces energy consumption by 35 % onboard ships
The marine market is in the process of becoming "greener" and more environmentally friendly. The major drivers are ballast water treatment regulations, tighter regulation of pollution from exhaust gasses and a move towards using LNG as fuel. For ship owners to come out on top of this key transition it is important not to forget the important role nitrogen plays - and will play in the future. Oxymat has supplied more than 180 PSA nitrogen systems to the maritime industry total production capacity is more than 38,000 Nm3 . Increasing demand for on-site nitrogen onboard ships
In 2017 the Denmark based company Oxymat had experienced a rise in demand of nitrogen packages for chemical carriers by 60 %. The main reason to this demand is ship owners need for low OPEX (operational costs). PSA technology requires less compressed air at a lower pressure thereby decreasing the size of the needed compressors. Cargo ship collided with yacht in English Channel
General cargo ship LADY NOLA collided with yacht in English Channel southeast of Dungeness early in the morning Aug 8, being en route from Riga in Latvia to Shoreham in West Sussex. The ship at the time of collision understood to be moving at low speed. Yacht s mast got entangled with ship s superstructure, two people on board were evacuated. GasLog Cuts Steel for New LNG Carrier
Greece-based owner and operator GasLog Ltd has launched the construction of its 180,000 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier at South Korea s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).

Search Locates 37 YM Efficiency Boxes off Newcastle
A total of 37 containers, which fell from the deck of the Liberian-flagged YM Efficiency on June 1, have been located on the sea floor off the coast of Newcastle.
According to a report from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), the initial subsea search identified the containers and what appears to be associated debris in late July. Gothia Tanker Alliance Adds Second New Chemical Tanker
The second of six new small chemical tankers ordered by the Gothia Tanker Alliance has been delivered to its owner. Named Ramanda, the tanker was constructed by China s shipbuilder Avic Dingheng for Sweden-based shipowner Rederi AB Alvtank. Star Bulk Secures USD 80 Mn Refinancing
Greece-based dry bulk shipping firm Star Bulk Carriers unveiled an agreement for a new loan of USD 80 million. Namely, in July, the company entered into a committed term‐sheet with HSBC Bank plc for the loan which will be used to refinance the full amounts outstanding under the HSBC USD 86,600 facility and the HSH USD 64,500 facility. The General Authority For Ports & Dry Land has implemented 93% of its investment plan with EGP 155 million, including the development of Taba land port and the first phase of securing the authority s ports.

Ambode flags off expansion of Orile tanker terminal
Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Sunday flagged off the expansion of the Orile Tanker Terminal, as part of solutions to the Apapa gridlock. It will now accommodate trucks. Ambode assured that work would be accelerated on the 1000-capacity terminal at Orile-Iganmu area of the state.
