Bulk carrier sunk coaster in collision, 1 missing, Shanghai
MRCC Shanghai was alerted at 0705 Beijing time Oct 31 on a collision between bulk carrier LI DIAN 2 and cargo ship LV DI 67, which occurred in Waigaoqiao Channel, Shanghai. Cargo ship LV DI 67 sank, 7 crew were rescued by patrol boats, 1 went missing, SAR ship DONG HAI JIU 204 (IMO 9694842) were dispatched to search for missing sailor, and monitor probable pollution. German cargo ship troubled in Scheldt estuary, Netherlands
Multipurpose cargo ship AFRICAN WIND lost propulsion, due to engine or mechanical failure, at around 1900 UTC Oct 30 off Vissingen, Netherlands, while under way to Antwerp. Tugs were sent to assist troubled freighter and avoid grounding or collision. In about an hour crew managed to fix the problem, AFRICAN WIND resumed sailing. Ferry RIO MARINA BELLA hit pier, 2 passengers injured, Italy
Ferry RIO MARINA BELLA collided with pier while docking at Portoferraio, Elba Island, Italy, at around 2130 LT Oct 29, on arrival from Piombino with some 150 passengers on board. Two passengers were injured from a sharp jolt, one hospitalized with fractured ankle. Portside stern ramp and hull were damaged, from the looks of it on the photo hull may be breached. Underway tanker GP T2 was attacked by pirates at night Oct 30 in Singapore Strait, some 6.5 nm northeast of Terumbu Betata, Batam Island, Indonesia, reported ReCAAP. Five pirates armed with knives boarded tanker at around 0142 LT Oct 30, went into engine room, tied up duty oiler, stole some spare parts and fled in a small boat. Vietnamese cargo ship sank, 12 crew rescued
Cargo ship HONG ANH 69 sank in the afternoon Oct 30 in position 18 49N 105 45E, off Cua Lo, northern Vietnam, Gulf of Tonkin. Vessel was loaded with 4600 tons of coal, cause of sinking unclear, rough seas mentioned. 12 crew were rescued. According to available data, HONG ANH 69 is a 4740-ton cargo ship of 60-meter length, Vietnam-flagged, Call sign 3WGH, MMSI 574013266.
