Kiel Canal transit restricted after freighter struck Kiel Lock Gate
General cargo ship WILSON GOOLE struck Northern Lock s Gate in Kiel, Kiel Canal at around 1800 UTC Mar 13, while entering Canal, en route from Klaipeda Lithuania to Immingham UK. India: Cyber cell busts fake job racket for sailors
The Goa police s cyber crime cell (CCC) on Sunday busted an alleged fake employment racket for sailors, and arrested one person while escaping from Mumbai airport.
Crime branch SP Shobhit Saxena told TOI that a case was registered at the CCC on the complaint of a shipping company, Ouvert Marine, where it was claimed that some unknown persons had made a fake website of the company mimicking the original one.Posted On:15-Mar-2021

Cruise ship fire, Corfu, Greece
Fire erupted on board of cruise ship MSC LIRICA, berthed at Kerkira, Corfu, Greece, in the afternoon Mar 12. Fire seems to be raging starboard on a lifeboat deck, one of lifeboats seemingly engulfed in fire. Theres a lot of thick black smoke billowing from fire zone. Bulk carriers collision UPDATES Mar 14: anchored
Bulk carriers KIVELI and AFINA I coolided in the morning Mar 13 several miles northwest of Kythira island, Greece, Mediterranean, while proceeding in opposite directions. Both ships suffered damages, AFINA I said to sustain hull breach with ensuing water ingress. One bulk carrier struck another with her bow, and pierced her hull, both ships remaining locked as of 1340 UTC Mar 13, adrift, with tug or tugs at their side.Posted On:15-Mar-2021

Another piracy attack in Gulf of Guinea, or false alarm?
The ship reportedly was attacked at around 0600 UTC Mar 14 in Gulf of Guinea, some 2010 nm south of Lagos. There s only one merchant ship in this area, its a hapless tanker DAVIDE B, still hanging in the area since she was attacked on Mar 11, and 15 of her 21 crew kidnapped.
