MISC in pact to assist stranded seafarers
The MISC group, comprising MISC Bhd, AET Pte Ltd and Eaglestar Marine Holdings (L), has signed the Neptune declaration to help stranded seafarers caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Czech Republic added to Philippines international crew change ban
The addition of the Czech Republic applies from 00-01hrs on 28 January and bars all international crew change within 14 days for non-Filipino crew. Norwegian Cruise Line wants crew members vaccinated before sailings
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd has said it intends for crew members to have received a coronavirus vaccine before they return to its cruise ships.

CORSICA LINEA ferry contacted bottom, breached hull, water ingress, Bastia France
Ferry PAGLIA ORBA serving Bastia Corsica - Marseille line, France, contacted bottom while entering Bastia port in the morning Jan 25, sustaining at least two hull breaches with ensuing water ingress. Jeff Bezos names rocket landing ship after his mother
Rechristening the ro-ro ferry Stena Freighter, Amazon kingpin Jeff Bezos named the newly refurbished rocket landing platform after his mother, Jacklyn Bezos.

Panama ports record aggressive growth amidst pandemic
The port activity in Panama recorded an aggressive 5.3% growth last year. Not only this, but it also registered the highest ever volume handled at the ports, capped at 7.73m TEUs, despite months of lockdowns that ravaged world economies.

Korean trawler on fire, 34 crew evacuated, safe, Philippines
Trawler NO.96 OYANG caught fire early in the morning Jan 26 in Philippines sea E of Manila, 34 crew had to abandon the ship and went into life rafts. Later they were picked up by nearby vessels, to be transferred and disembarked at Cebu City by PCG ship.
