Hong Kong fishing vessel catches fire, sinks, 1 sailor dead, 2 missing
One sailor was dead and two others were missing after a fishing boat caught fire and sank in Hong Kong waters on Sunday. The Marine Department said they received a report at 11am that a Hong Kong-registered vessel was on fire off the coast of Sai Kung. Police said 10 crew members abandoned the sinking boat, seven of whom were rescued by mainland Chinese authorities at around 1.30pm. Greece: At least 16 people killed in migrant shipwreck
At least 16 people died and several others were rescued when a boat carrying migrants capsized off the island of Paros on Friday, the Greek coast guard said. Cargo ship stuck under bridge, Saigon
General cargo ship HIEN ANH 555 was disabled and got stuck under Dong Nai Bridge, Dong Nai river, Ho Chi Minh city area, at around 1700 LT Dec 24. The ship was proceeding upstream to Dong Nai port with 4578 tons of steel on board. Container ship ASIATIC SUN contacted pier while berthing at Taichung Port, Taiwan, at around 0000 UTC Dec 26, on arrival from Taipei, Taiwan. Ship’s bow/forecastle were severely damaged, see video.
