Chinese Crew Rescued After Container Ship Aground in Russia
All 12 Chinese crew members of a container ship were rescued after the ship ran aground in Kholmsk on the Russian island of Sakhalin on December 6. The Xing Yuan ship was reported to have hit an embankment near the Russian port at around 4 pm on Monday, but did not request to be rescued and had no fuel leak, according to Russian emergency services. Fire Continues to Burn on Timber Ship Off Sweden
The fire on board the MV Almirante Storni carrying a cargo of timber continues to burn at an anchorage off of Gothenburg, Sweden. Bulk carrier CAPE with cargo of soybeans at around 1200 UTC Dec 5 ran aground in St. Lawrence river in front of Saint-Nicolas, Canada, while proceeding downstream.
