India: PM Modi flags off Ro-Pax ferry service in Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Ro-Pax terminal at Hazira and flagged off the Ro-Pax ferry service between Hazira and Ghogha in Gujarat through video conferencing. He also interacted with the local users. He renamed the Ministry of Shipping as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said today people of Gujarat got their Diwali gift and that everyone will benefit from this better connectivity.Posted On:9-Nov-2020

Global container volumes up 6.9% in Sept compared to 2019 According to CTS lines moved 14.72m teu globally in September this year, compared to 13.76m teu in the same month in 2019.
The volume moved in September 2020 represents a slight fall off from a peak of 14.82m teu of import and export boxes in July this year, as trade surged following Covid-19 lockdowns across large swathes of the world in the second quarter. Ex- VEENDAM cruise ship grounded by storm in Corinth, Greece. Cruise ship AEGEAN MAJESTY (ex- VEENDAM) grounded on a sand bar at Corinth port, Greece, where she was docked since Oct 15, in the evening Nov 6, in stormy conditions. Understood berthed ship broke off her moorings and drifted aground in Corinth Harbor. As of 0330 UTC Nov 8 the ship is understood to be refloated, anchored in harbor, though she may be still aground, not clear.Posted On:9-Nov-2020

Two ships collided head-on in Kiel Canal, both operated by the same company. Confirmed second ship is RIX PARTNER, understood she suffered hull breach in midship ballast tanks area.

General cargo ship sank, 5 missing, Vietnam. General cargo ship THANH HUNG sank in the evening Nov 6 in Quang Nam Province waters, central Vietnam, South China sea, having some 5,300 tons of clinker on board. The ship reported water ingress via faulty ventilation pipes, developing portside list, so probably, she capsized. Reefer DAFENG MARINER issued distress signal in the afternoon Nov 7 in Fujian Province waters, China, southern East China sea, while en route from Mawei port, Fujian Province, to a ship repair yard in Zhejiang, for repairs. The ship reported water ingress in cargo hold and engine room, developing portside list, in rough weather conditions.
