Australian Martime Safety Authority detains Chinese ship in Tasmania
The country s top maritime safety authority on Friday detained a 180-metre vessel in Devonport over non-payment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to its Chinese crew.

Crew of Indian ship detained in UAE will evacuate on July 31: captain
After months of distress calls and knocking on multiple doors for help, the crew of Indian merchant ship Maharshi Vamadeva, detained at the Fujairah port in United Arab Emirates, will "abandon ship" on July 31, the captain has said. Wison Wins FEED Contract for FLNG Project
Wison Offshore & Marine and Western LNG have entered into a technical service agreement in relation to a new floating LNG project that Western is developing in British Columbia, Canada.

BC Ferries Looking for Builders of Five New Ferries
Canadian ferry owner and operator BC Ferries has issued Requests for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for the procurement of five new vessels to replace its aging fleet.
The bidding process is open to local, national and international shipyards, including consortia, and BC Ferries encouraged local and national companies to bid on these projects. CMA CGM Extends Bunker Surcharge
French liner giant CMA CGM said that due to high oil prices it would keep the emergency bunker surcharge introduced in May 2018 to recover the increase.
As a result, as from August 1 until further notice, the measure will be applied to all long-haul cargo worldwide. The start date applies to ships loading in the origin ports. Sri Lanka, China, India jointly invest to develop Lankan ports
Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), China and India are jointly investing over US$ 700 million to develop three key ports in Sri Lanka in the next three years. The Minister of Ports and Shipping Mahinda Samarasinghe said that China would invest between US$ 400 to 600 million to commence the third phase of the Hambantota Development project. Keppel Shipyard Names Converted FPSO for Perenco
Keppel Shipyard has christened a floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), converted from a crude oil tanker, for an affiliate of the Perenco.
The FPSO was named La Noumbi on July 26, Keppel Offshore & Marine s subsidiary said, adding that the unit is on track to be handed over to Dixstone holdings in the third quarter of 2018.
