Luxury yacht destroyed by fire, total loss, Italy. Luxury yacht LADY VANILLA was engulfed in flames on Oct 2 at Ligurian Loano Marina, Italy, burned out and is considered to be a total loss. Electric batteries in engine room are thought to be the cause of fire. Recently, she was listed as yacht for sale.

Crew change tragic accident, Chief Engineer died. A tragic accident took place off Liberian coast, West Africa, early in the morning Oct 3. Two Turkish cargo ships, bulk carrier SERVET ANA and general cargo ship BAKU, both operated by the same company, met outside Liberian territorial waters and anchored, to perform crew transfer operation by a rescue boat. Ibiza ferry aground, breached, all people on board evacuated Fast ferry ECO LUX, connecting Ibiza and Savina ports, Balearic islands, ran aground on Espalmador islet coast at around 2000 UTC Oct 6, while en route from Ibiza to Savina. Hull was breached, with ensuing water ingress. 12 passengers and 5 crew were evacuated to tdelivered to Savina port by an inflatable rigid boat, provided by ferry operator, BALEARIA, all people are safe. IMO updates safe crew change protocols. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has updated its protocols for ensuring safe crew change during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, IMO says, some 400,000 seafarers from across the globe are now stranded on ships, continuing to work but unable to be relieved, in a deepening crew change crisis which threatens trade and maritime safety.
The framework of protocols was first issued on May 5, 2020, and has now been revised, with the principle purpose of emphasizing the need for compliance and strict adherence with COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements, reflecting that these are now a reality in many national jurisdictions.Posted On:8-Oct-2020

Myanmar evacuates 175 seafarers from Belgium and Netherland Myanmar brought back 175 seafarers from Belgium and Netherland using a chartered relief flight from Titan airways to Yangon, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
