German freighter grounding, Oslo Fjord German general cargo ship OCEAN VOYAGER ran aground in Oslo Fjord off Storegrunnen lighthouse at around 0600 UTC Dec 8, most probably losing control due to some mechanical failure, judging from track. The ship was refloated some 8 hours later with the help of tugs and high tide, no leak reported. At 1530 UTC Dec 8 OCEAN VOYAGER was approaching or entering Oslo. Dutch cargo ship disabled in Celtic sea, towed to Brest Dutch general cargo vessel EEMS TRAVELLER reported propulsion failure to MRCC Corsen, France, at 1114 CET Dec 7, being disabled some 15 nm off Portsall, France, Celtic sea, north of Ushant. MRCC Corsen sent SAR ship ABEILLE BOURBON (IMO 9308687) to distressed vessel. ABEILLE BOURBON was on standby near distressed freighter until it became clear, that the crew can’t fix the problem by own means. At 1250 manager of freighter contracted Abeilles International for salvage, at 1542 EEMS TRAVELLER was taken on tow by ABEILLE BOURBON to be towed to Brest, where she arrived at night same day, and was docked. EEMS TRAVELLER with 2000 tons of steel on board is en route from Gijon Spain to Rotterdam.Posted On:9-Dec-2017
