Australia Detains Yang Ming Boxship for Pollution Debt
Australian authorities have arrested a Panamax containership owned by Taiwan s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. for a pollution debt that could reach as high as AUD 20 million (USD 13.4 million).
On February 9, the Federal Court Admiralty Marshall arrested the Liberia-flagged YM Eternity at Port Botany after the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) petitioned the court to recover the outstanding debt.Posted On:10-Feb-2020

BW LPG Doubles Its Commitment to LPG as Fuel
Singapore-based owner and operator of LPG vessels BW LPG has strengthened its commitment to adopting LPG as fuel having lifted an option for the delivery of four additional LPG dual-fuel engines.

Shell Hires Four LNG Carriers feom Korea Line, Global Meridian
In December 2019, oil and gas major Shell signed separate agreements for four LNG carriers with affiliates of shipping company Knutsen LNG.
As informed, Shell will hire two LNG carriers from Korea Line Corporation and the remaining two from Global Meridian Holdings Limited.

DSME Inks Deal with KNOT for Shuttle Tanker Duo
Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has signed a contract with Norwegian-based shipowner Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS for the construction of two shuttle tankers.

Iron ore port stocks increased amid lower deliveries from ports
Iron ore stocks across 35 Chinese ports totalled 116.36 million mt as of February 7, up 1.96 million mt from pre-holiday levels, but 12.76 million mt lower than a year ago, showed SMM data.

Port Hedland Iron Ore Exports Down 3% in January
Pilbara Ports Authority has delivered a total monthly throughput of 55 million tonnes (Mt) for the month of January 2020.
This throughput was a 1% decrease compared to the same month in 2019.
