Miami : Cruise ship worker has been living in South Florida hotels for 7 months. He can not get home. From behind the locked window of his 10th-floor hotel room, Paul Cordova watches dozens of airplanes take off and land each day at Miami International Airport.
He can t get on any of them.
An injured Royal Caribbean Group crew member, Cordova, 48, has been living in South Florida hotels since January. He traveled from Peru to the United States to receive follow-up treatment for back surgery he had in November 2018.Posted On:11-Aug-2020

SAL heavy lift aground with wind turbine blades, USA. Heavy lift cargo ship IMKE ran aground while approaching Ogdensburg, northernmost port in New York State, St. Lawrence Seaway, at around 1830 UTC Aug 8. The ship arrived at Ogdensburg from Montreal with cargo of wind turbines. Stern is probably damaged. She was still aground as of 2300 UTC Aug 9 according to last AIS, tug or tugs were assisting refloating. Seems like they ve been pushing her towards berth.Posted On:11-Aug-2020

The Mission to Seafarers extend nominations for Singapore Seafarers Awards to recognise shipping's key workers. Leading international seafarer welfare charity, The Mission to Seafarers, has extended nominations for its annual Seafarers’ Awards, hosted in Singapore, until 30th September.

AIDA Delays Restart Until September in Setback for Carnival Corp. Germany s AIDA Cruises announced further cruise cancelations delaying its planned resumption of service. This is the latest setback for the Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, which had targeted an early August start for AIDA as its first cruise line to resume service.
According to AIDA, they are now planning to resume service sailing from Kiel, German on September 6. In an unexplained development, the company is also substituting its cruise ship the AIDAblu for the AIDAbella on these planned cruises.Posted On:11-Aug-2020

So it has happened. The screens on the business PCs in the engine control room and bridge have all locked down. The computers are simply displaying a black screen with a blank pop up window. No text.
