Freighter aground, Taiwan General cargo ship FUCHUN 688 on Dec 8 ran aground on a coast in Changhua city area, central Taiwan, Taiwain Strait. Understood refloating delayed until all fuel, some 4 tons, will be siphoned, in order to avoid possible pollution, with ship’s hull probably being breached. 8 crew, including Chinese Master and 7 Indonesians, is safe. Hong Kong based shipowner is to come to Taiwan to coordinate salvage plan with maritime officials. Nigerian pirates attack container ship VIDEO Crew member of a Singapore-flagged container ship made a video of pirates attack on Dec 7 south of Nigerian port Onne, Bight of Bonny, Gulf of Guinea. Name of the ship wasn’t revealed. The ship thwarted attack thanks to barbed wire fencing, speed and maneuvering. At one moment, 4 signal rockets were fired in the direction of pirates boat.
