India: Shipping Ministry identifies new routes for Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax, Ferry services. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) on Monday said that it has identified domestic locations and six international routes, connecting four international destinations from Indian major coastal port towns for the commencement of ferry services through inland waterways.

Crew died in fatal accident during cargo operation, Baltimore One crew of a general cargo ship PADEREWSKI died from a fatal injury in a tragic accident during heavy lift cargo operation on Dec 20 at Baltimore, according to Blueoceana Company report. He was assisting in pontoon relocation on ship s deck, and had been caught between lifted pontoon and ship s structure. The ship arrived at Baltimore Maryland, on Dec 19, from New Orleans.

Cargo ship attacked, probably container ship again. Sources confirm its PORT GDYNIA, said the ship was boarded, awaiting further updates.
Cargo ship was attacked in Gulf of Guinea southwest of Bonny, Nigeria, at around 0400 UTC Dec 21. Ships tracks in the attack area point to container ship PORT GDYNIA (IMO 9334387), as the most likely attack target. Cargo container manufacturing hub planned at Bhavnagar India is moving into the business of manufacturing cargo containers, a segment dominated by China, as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Safe Bulkers orders post-panamax newbuild bulker at Japanese yard The vessel, scheduled for delivery within third quarter of 2022, will be designed to meet the latest requirements of Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).

IMO Secretary-General denounces "no crew change" clauses IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim has spoken out against "no crew change" clauses in charterparties, pointing out that such clauses exacerbate the dire situation of stranded seafarers and undermine the efforts undertaken to resolve the ongoing crew change crisis.

Container exports at Mangaluru Port up While the pandemic impacted ports resulting in a decrease in cargo traffic, New Mangaluru Port Trust (NMPT) bucked the trend, registering a 6.2% growth in the container export segment between April and November, compared to the same period last year.
