Coaster sank after collision with ferry, 2 missing, Hainan Ferry HAI KOU JIU HAO with 972 passengers and some 140 vehicles on board collided with 28-meter long coaster XINYING F069 (no data found) off mainland Hainan port, while en route from Hainan island s Haikou, at 0046 LT Feb 22. Coaster loaded with steel sank, 3 crew were rescued, 2 went missing, SAR under way. Ferry understood to be deployed in SAR on the collision site right after collision, later reached port and was safely docked, no injures among passengers and crew. Tanker refloated after 18 days ordeal Product tanker HANG YU 11 was refloated on Feb 21 by salvage tugs SALVAGE CHAMPION (IMO 7530444) and SALVAGE ACE (IMO 7626841), both owned by ASIAN MARINE CO LTD, understood ASIAN MARITIME was contracted for salvage. Tanker drifted aground on Feb 3 (see initial news below), and couldn t be refloated earlier because of adverse weather. While sitting hard on breakwater, tanker was battered by waves, leading to further damages in superstructure, engine and pump rooms. All oil on board was removed by Feb 9, about a ton leaked shortly after accident, understood there were no more leaks.Posted On:22-Feb-2018
