Maritime India Summit will be organised from March 2 to 4, says VPT Chairman
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is organising the Maritime India Summit- 2021 (MIS 2021) from March 2 to 4, in virtual mode. This was disclosed here on Monday by Viskhapatnam Port Trust Chairman K. Rama Mohan Rao, at a press meet.
Giving details of the summit, he said that it is aimed at positioning Indian maritime sector on par with international standards by attracting domestic as well as international investments.Posted On:24-Feb-2021

Cargo ship collided with commercial fishing boat, 6 people injured, Japan
General cargo ship ASAHI MARU collided with commercial fishing boat at around midday LT Feb 23 off Chiba Prefecture coast, northeast Honshu, Japan. Dutch freighter stuck in Kiel Canal, blocked traffic for several hours
Southbound general cargo ship BEAUMARE suffered engine failure and got stuck in Kiel Canal in Rendsburg area in the evening Feb 21. Canal traffic was blocked for several hours, until the ship was released and berthed nearby. Two tugs took her on tow in the morning Feb 22, and towed to Brunsbuettel. Bulk Carrier spills 1,000 tons of oil off Solomon Islands
The government of Solomon Island recently accused a Panama-flagged bulker for intentionally releasing heavy fuel oil(HFO) off the valuable Graciosa Bay, Temotu Province.

Over 400 rescued migrants brought to Sicily
Two commercial vessels and a Spanish rescue ship have brought more than 400 migrants to Sicily over the past three days. One of the ships, the Vos Triton, only drove the survivors to Italy after they protested against being returned to Libya.
